Checking in from London Town

Ello!

I am taking a short break after a long shopping morning at Portebello Market. Needed to stop for an hour and rest my feet before I head to the British Museum this afternoon. It started raining, so I thought I would come home and grab my wellingtons and an umbrella. Turned on the TV and there was an old episodes of One Tree Hill on. I mean really? One Tree Hill? Does anyone in the states even watch it? Looks like an old Nickelodeon produced soap opera or something.

Anyways..... I just realized that the pictures I have been taking with my camera won't be able to be uploaded on to this Google Book that I brought with me. Although it has been AMAZING to google chat with and I have fairly quick internet, it isn't a completed packaged lap top... so note to self... if I want to blog about anything here (with pics) going to have to use the phone to take shots and email them.

A few things I have realized on this trip in the last few days:
  1. Apparently you can buy milk that comes in a box and it doesn't need to be re-frigerated.
  2. There are no trash cans on most of the streets because, " it attacks bums". Ha.
  3. Descriptive words sound much more eloquently come from the English. Huge = Massive, Super= Quite. Lots of= Loads. For example, " The streets of London have massive amounts of people on them who are quite stylish, yet they can't throw their trash away on the street or it will attract loads of Bums."
  4. There is a store (Mark and Spencer) where you can shop for clothing and grocceries. No joke the bras are next to the cereal. Love it.
  5. One machine washes and drys the clothes. Ummm. duh, thats awesome!
  6. There are MASSIVE amounts of people here. 7.5 Million in London/ 800,000 Million in SF.
Yesterday, I visited St. Paul's Cathedral. I walked to the tippy top spire (crazy sore today). It was definitely one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Not to get all crazy and sentimental, but I got a little choked up while sitting in the Whispering Gallery.

  1. Um, there's no bins because of bombs not the homeless! - I remember a fair amount of IRA attacks growing up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_terrorist_incidents_in_London
